SCORE dishes cooking start-up tips

Volunteers at SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives of Westchester, will lead a free workshop Wednesday in White Plains for persons interested in starting a commercial cooking business.

Titled “Cook and Bake–Ready to Use a Commercial Kitchen,” the workshop will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday in SCORE headquarters at 120 Bloomingdale Road.

Key topics to be covered include:

  • How to start a food business.
  • How to start a catering business.
  • Tips on completing all paperwork associated with a food or catering business.
  • Certain qualifications needed in order to work in a commercial kitchen.
  • Choosing the best type of food business for you.
  • How church kitchens can be an excellent starting point for your business.
