PepsiCo’s Mountain Dew to offer new Sweet Lightning drink exclusively at KFC

The swaggering fictional spokesman Sweet meets with Colonel Sanders in a new KFC television commercial.

PepsiCo”™s Mountain Dew brand will roll out a new soft drink called Sweet Lightning that will be available exclusively at KFC restaurants across the nation beginning on July 1.

Promoted as “an out-of-this-sky refreshment lit up with a punch of peach and a touch of honey flavors,” this will be the first exclusive beverage to be offered at KFC locations and the second time that Mountain Dew has created a restaurant-exclusive drink ”“ the brand debuted Baja Blast at KFC”™s sister restaurant, Taco Bell, in 2004.

Mountain Dew and KFC collaborated on the drink in order to create a taste that complemented KFC”™s Original Recipe fried chicken. To promote Sweet Lightning, an advertising campaign featuring a swaggering fictional spokesman named Sweet who will appear in commercials with KFC”™s iconic Colonel Sanders.
