Diageo wins 66 awards at San Francisco World Spirits Competition
If there was a drinking game for every time that Norwalk-based Diageo snagged an award at the 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the game winner would probably wake up with the world’s greatest hangover.
Diageo brands brought in a total of 66 awards at this annual international spirits competition, including 13 Double Gold medals and 10 Gold Medals. Forty-two of Diageo”™s medals were in the Whisk(e)y category, and three Diageo brands ”“ Buchanan’s Special Reserve, Johnnie Walker Green Label and Lagavulin 16 Year Old ”“ were named Best in Class in their respective categories.
“We are proud of the distilling heritage of our spirits brands and this overwhelming recognition from one of the most globally-recognized spirits competitions is testament to that,” said Deirdre Mahlan, president of Diageo North America. “We are particularly delighted that our Scotch whisky portfolio has been recognized with so many Gold and Double Gold medals.”
