Caribbean-soul restaurant Uncle Joe’s to open in Bridgeport
Uncle Joe’s, Bridgeport”™s newest restaurant, is scheduled to open this week with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 4 and a grand opening celebration stretching through the following three days.
Located at 188 Pequonnock St. at the former site of Lee”™s Food Emporium, Uncle Joe’s promotes itself as a “Caribbean and soul- infused restaurant and lounge,” with Caribbean specialties including oxtail and peppered steak as wells as a Caribbean-American mix of favorites including paninis made with jerk pork, jerk shrimp and jerk chicken. The soul aspect of the menu includes old favorites such as chicken with waffles and seafood boil.
Uncle Joe”™s is owned and operated by 29-year-old Bridgeport native Nate Smith, who has been running a local catering business for the past two years. Uncle Joe”™s will be open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays and will be closed on Sundays.
