White Plains Hospital opens Armonk center
White Plains Hospital has expanded its service reach in Westchester with the opening this month of a 24,000-square-foot outpatient facility in Armonk that includes what hospital officials said is the first urgent care center in the county to be opened by a hospital.
White Plains Hospital Medical and Wellness opened with a Nov. 17 ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house at 99 Business Park Drive, adjacent to the Equinox Fitness Center. The facility also includes a diagnostic imaging center and medical offices.
“We have been a trusted provider of quality health services for residents of northern Westchester for years,” said White Plains Hospital President and CEO Susan Fox, “and we are pleased now to make many of those exceptional services available closer to home for this community.”
Physicians will staff the urgent care seven days a week, from 3 to 11 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends. The center is designed to treat ailments and injuries during doctors”™ offices”™ off hours that might not be severe enough to require emergency room visits.
Dr. Rafael E. Torres, director of emergency medicine at White Plains Hospital, has been named medical director for urgent care service at the Armonk center. “We hope that by bringing urgent care to Armonk, we will help fill a gap in the area, particularly for those individuals with less severe illnesses and injuries who can be treated effectively and efficiently in an ambulatory setting,” Torres said in the hospital announcement.
The diagnostic imaging centre is open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends. Officials at the community hospital said it offers a full range of imaging and laboratory services.
The facility also offers primary medical care and specialty care that includes pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, endocrinology and specialty surgical consultations, in addition to physical therapy space.
The 292-bed White Plains Hospital is a member of Montefiore Health System.
