Business Banking Team Leader promoted
Alicia Brockway was promoted to vice president and business banking team leader for Rockland and Westchester County regions of M&T Bank. Brockway brings 23 years of experience to her new role. She previously served as business banking relationship manager for the Mohawk Valley region. Brockway will be responsible for leading and managing a group of six business banking relationship managers.
She received a Bachelor of Science degree in organizational management from Keuka College. While working in the Mohawk Valley region, Brockway was involved in several organizations, including board member positions with The United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area, Leadership Mohawk Valley and Herkimer BOCES. She also was co-chairperson for The United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area”™s 2012 campaign.
DeCicco Family Markets food festival
Three Dogs Bakery, based in Briarcliff Manor, offered gluten-free dessert samples to shoppers at DeCicco Family Markets”™ second annual Food Festival held at its Brewster location July 27. Cross River-based Treat Frozen Yogurt provided samples of several flavors of frozen yogurt, Mamaroneck-based Plaza Sweets provided a variety of delicious dessert samples for shoppers and Rye Brook-based 12NtM provided samples of its chef-designed sparkling beverages.
The all-day food festival celebrated the best in local fare, featuring more than 50 vendors of produce, grocery, dairy, frozen goods, meat, cheese and beers.
Night and Day
Night and Day Sleep Services”™, a division of ENT and Allergy Associates L.L.P.,  Sleep Lab in Garden City recently received program accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), signifying that Night and Day has fulfilled all the standards required for sleep disorders center designation. ENT and Allergy has more than 140 physicians in 40 office locations in Westchester, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess, Rockland, Nassau and Suffolk counties, New York City, Long Island and northern and central New Jersey.
The Garden City Sleep Lab, which opened in 2011 and is operational six nights a week, is a four- bed state-of-the-art facility located at 901 Stewart Ave, Garden City.
Gastroenterologist Joins White Plains Hospital
Seth Gendler, M.D. a gastroenterologist with a practice in New Rochelle, has joined White Plains Hospital Physician Associates, a division of the hospital aligning physicians with hospital services
Gendler received his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago and went on to complete his residency and fellowship at St. Luke”™s Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. After fellowship, Gendler spent one year studying therapeutic biliary endoscopy at the University of Brussels in Belgium. He specializes in digestive diseases and pancreatic/biliary endoscopy (ERCP) and has performed more than 17,000 endoscopies in his 25-year career.
He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology and has served as the chief of the division of gastroenterology at Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester since 1992, where he also held the title of director of the division of gastroenterology fellowship program.
Gendler is an associate professor of clinical medicine at the New York Medical College/Westchester Medical Center and is also an active member of the faculty at New York Medical College, where he teaches second-year medical students and where he has twice been selected as Teacher of the Year by the medical residents.
M&T adds to Westchester team
James Pfeifer has been named vice president and business banking relationship manager for the northern Westchester region by M&T Bank. Pfeifer comes to M&T Bank from First Niagara Bank, where he served as a vice president and regional small business banker.
Pfeifer will be responsible for strengthening existing business-client relationships while fostering the growth of new business clients. He will also evaluate credit information and requests.
Pfeifer received a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting and finance from Pace University. He currently serves as a member of The Greater Mahopac Carmel Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Putnam County Chambers of Commerce. Pfeifer was also a committee member for the 2013 Shop Putnam Business & Home Expo, a recent volunteer for SCORE Putnam and was recognized in Putnam County Chambers of Commerce”™s 40 Under 40 awards.
Hospital”™s Chief Residents named
Sound Shore Medical Center (SSMC) Department of Medicine announced its medical residency program selection of chief residents for the 2013-2014 academic year. They are Resmi Premji and Marie Lamsen, who will serve as co-chief residents.
Lamsen and Premji will oversee the activities of the residents of the internal medicine and transitional training programs, which include planning resident schedules, in compliance with the American Board of Internal Medicine Guidelines; meeting educational goals; organizing educational conferences; and actively participating in the supervision of medical and transitional residents in both inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition, they will serve as departmental representatives at various professional organizations, including the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine.
SSMC Director of Medicine Stephen Jesmajian, MD said, “Our internal medicine residency program has two exceptional doctors serving as co-chiefs for the 2013-14 academic year. Both Drs. Lamsen and Premji are well qualified to perform the duties of this important position.”
Lamsen received her Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology, cum laude, from St. Louis University in the Philippines before earning her medical degree from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine as a Nellie Kellog Van Shaick Scholar.
Premji received her medical degree from Amrita School of Medicine in Kochi, India, before pursuing a research assistantship at St. Luke”™s Roosevelt Hospital, where her focus was risk and medical management of cardiac inpatients.

New name reflects growthÂ
