Urban comes to Westport
Two months after joining sister brands Free People and Anthropologie in Greenwich, Urban Outfitters is planning a store on Post Road East in Westport.
Philadelphia-based Urban Outfitters, a clothing store targeting 20-something-year-olds, plans to open an 11,600-square-foot store at 101-107 Post Road E., a building formerly occupied by TDÂ Bank and a number of small businesses.
Urban Outfitters would not respond to requests for information on its Westport plans.
Westport developer David Waldman, the landlord whose other properties include the neighboring Patagonia building and Westport Weston Family Y, said he intends to eliminate the building”™s second level to enable Urban Outfitters to occupy a street-level space with high ceilings. The store is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2012.
Urban Outfitters Inc. is a publicly traded company that owns and operates five retail brands: Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People, Terrain and Leifsdottir. Founded in 1970, it has 170 Urban Outfitters stores in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
