University of Bridgeport names new associate provost

Aaron Perkus, an English professor and former Fairfield University administrator, will join the University of Bridgeport as associate provost on May 16, the university recently announced.

In his new role, he will supervise online programming, serving as the primary liaison to the Connecticut Office of Higher Education and organizing program and dean review, in addition to a range of other duties in the provost office.

Perkus most recently was associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences at Fairfield University, where he was director of graduate Programs and distance learning. He also served at Fairfield as president of the Phi Beta Kappa Zeta Chapter of Connecticut and as an assistant professor in the English department. He previously was the honors and writing coordinator and taught English at Norwalk Community College.

Perkus earned his bachelor”™s degree in creative writing and psychology at Southern Methodist University, and was awarded a master”™s degree in English and a doctoral degree in comparative literature from Binghamton University.

“Dr. Perkus combines deep experience in the academy with a fresh perspective,” University of Bridgeport Provost Stephen Healey said in the announcement.
