Tax credit candidates revealed

The state approved Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut to seek $400,000 in contributions to support financial and economic literacy programs in Bridgeport, Danbury and Shelton, under a tax-credit program that offsets some charitable corporate contributions.

Fairfield County organizations could raise more than $5 million thanks to tax credits authorized under the Connecticut Neighborhood Assistance Act, designed to promote funding for nonprofits by providing a corporation tax credit for businesses that make cash contributions to these entities.

Companies can receive a tax credit equal to 60 percent of their approved contribution, or 100 percent in the case of certain energy conservation programs.
