Swanson’s Fish Market in Fairfield closes after 45 years
Swanson”™s Fish Market, a Fairfield mainstay for 45 years, has closed.
The store at 2439 Black Rock Turnpike had announced earlier this month that it would close on Jan. 1, but instead shuttered a few days following the death of founder Jerry Swanson on Dec. 22. Its website is no longer operative.
“We have been a landmark here in Fairfield County, being voted best seafood for over 30 straight years, so it is a very bittersweet feeling for our family,” Larissa Swanson wrote of the decision to close on Facebook.
A deli will reportedly replace the fish market.
