Spanish Broadcasting System assists Sandy victims

Spanish Broadcasting System Inc. is lending a hand to those impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

A three-day Hispanos Unidos campaign will kick off today on the Miami-based company”™s radio stations, and television station MegaTV, with money going to AmeriCares Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund.

Listeners of the company’s 22 Spanish-language stations will also be invited to donate by phone, text message or via the AmeriCares website. In New York, Spanish Broadcasting System operates Mega 97.9 and LaVariedad de NY 93.1.

AmeriCares relief workers have been working the immediate needs of clinics and shelters in the Northeast since the Oct. 29 storm knocked out power to millions of people and left tens of thousands homeless.

Stamford-based AmeriCares aid includes family emergency kits, bottled water, blankets, first aid kits, flashlights and cleaning supplies.
