SHU grows, becomes more selective

With nearly 1,300 students, the Class of 2017 ranks as the largest freshman class in Sacred Heart University”™s 50-year history.

The incoming class exceeds the previous largest class by 31 percent, the Fairfield school reports.

Besides size, the class is distinguished by its academic accomplishments: an average high school GPA of 3.3, which is the highest ever GPA for an incoming SHU class.

The students come from 28 states with the most common being New York (33 percent), Connecticut (28 percent), New Jersey (17 percent) and Massachusetts (12 percent).

Ninety-two percent of the class will live on campus.
