Sacred Heart University dedicating new residence hall to Pope Francis
Sacred Heart University (SHU) in Fairfield is hosting a dedication ceremony and ribbon-cutting for its new Jorge Bergoglio residence hall, named after Pope Francis, at 11 a.m. on Aug. 30.
The building will house more than 200 sophomore students in two-bedroom,four-person pods with a shared bathroom.
Biophysicist and author Rabbi Abraham Skorka, a close friend of Pope Francis since childhood, will offer the keynote remarks at the dedication. At 7:00 p.m., SHU will host “The God Squad: An Interfaith Discussion Among Friends,” featuring Skorka and Fr. Tony Ciorra, SHU”™s associate vice president for mission and Catholic identity, at its Frank and Marisa Martire Business & Communications Center. Both events are free and open to the public.
