Pitney Bowes appoints chief operating officer

Stamford-based information technology and mail company Pitney Bowes Inc. recently named Michael Monahan chief operating officer.

While taking on his new title, Monahan will continue serving the company as its chief financial officer, reporting to Marc B. Lautenbach, president and CEO, and serving as its executive vice president.

“Naming Mike as COO reflects his day-to-day contributions to Pitney Bowes,” Lautenbach said in a statement, adding that Monahan’s “intimate understanding” of the business’ operations qualified him for the  position.

Monahan has global responsibilities for sales operations, client operations, information technology, procurement, supply chain and real estate. He leads the financial operations of the company on a global basis, and he has oversight of corporate strategy and corporate development functions.

Monahan has been with Pitney Bowes since 1988 and held positions in corporate accounting, investor relations and product management, and served as CFO of a business unit. He has served as company CFO since 2008.
