PB software targets global retailers

Pitney Bowes in Stamford has launched a software suite targeted at helping online retailers expand internationally.

The company released the Global Ecommerce Solution Suite at the 2010 Ecommerce Summit in Las Vegas. Craig Reed, vice president of ecommerce solutions for Pitney Bowes said the software enables technology providers to offer their U.S.-based online retailer customers the ability to expand their reach internationally.

“Thanks to rapid adoption of Internet shopping overseas and residual effects of the economic downturn, U.S. retailers are at a tipping point for international expansion,” said Reed. “As this industry transforms over the next three years, players with the best technologies will have the advantage for gaining global market share quickly.

The software includes true-cost of ecommerce items including real-time duties, taxes, and shipping costs. Reed said consumers also benefit from expanded shipping options, online tracking, package insurance, and returns management. For the retailer there is an automated customs compliance tool, a variety of international shipping options, and an online postage product.

“Our solutions are designed to support ecommerce technology providers seeking international expansion opportunities for their online retail customers,” Reed said.
