Norwalk to release Grand List Feb. 28 after extension
NORWALK – The city tax assessor will release the city’s 2024 Grand List on Friday, Feb. 28, after receiving a one-month extension from the state. This marks the second straight year the city needed an extension.
That means that city property owners can start filing appeals applications with the Board of Assessment Appeals starting March 1. The board has until April 30 to complete all appeals.
Appeals applications must be completed and submitted to the assessor no later than 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 20.
The city’s 2023 total net Grand List as of Oct. 1, 2023 was $15.38 billion, a 2.9% jump from 2022. That included $13.55 billion in real estate, $947.08 million in motor vehicles, and $881.25 million in personal property.
The real estate values were broken down as such:
- $11.64 billion residential
- $3.14 billion commercial
- $205.68 million industrial
- $38.5 million public utilities
- $181.98 million vacant
- $1.02 billion apartments
