Norwalk Hospital gala to honor McGraw family for $10M gift
Norwalk Hospital will host a gala Saturday to recognize siblings Harold Terry McGraw III, Robert McGraw and Suzanne McGraw, who donated $10 million to build a new ambulatory care pavilion at the hospital in honor of their parents. The event takes place at the Sono Field House at 365 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Norwalk, from 6:30 to 11 p.m.
The Anne P. and Harold W. McGraw Jr. Center is under construction and slated to open in January. Proceeds from the gala will support the hospital’s new ambulatory surgery center, which is inside the McGraw Center.
“Like our parents, my brother, sister and I want to help ensure that our neighbors in Fairfield County get the most advanced, sophisticated health care available,” said Terry McGraw, chairman and former CEO of McGraw Hill Financial, in a statement.
He said he hopes others will “rise to the occasion” and donate to the hospital.
Each year, 70 percent of the 9,000 surgical cases at Norwalk Hospital are ambulatory surgeries. The hospital in a press release said the new ambulatory surgery center will employ the latest surgical technology, including the da Vinci Si robotic surgical system.
