Norwalk Hospital cancer center wins award
The Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital was one of 75 accredited cancer programs in the country to receive the Commission on Cancer”™s 2014 Outstanding Achievement Award, the hospital recently announced.
The Commission on Cancer, a program of the American College of Surgeons, presents the award annually to cancer programs that complete an accreditation survey and receive a successful performance report for commendation-level standards.
Norwalk Hospital was one of four Connecticut commission-accredited cancer centers to earn the award, joining Hartford Hospital, The Hospital of Central Connecticut and VA Connecticut Healthcare System in West Haven.
Norwalk Hospital is part of the Western Connecticut Health Network, which also includes Danbury Hospital and Milford Hospital. Danbury Hospital’s Praxair Cancer Center has previously won the award.
