Norwalk dive shop owner named to national scuba board

Michael Feld, owner and CEO of Norwalk-based Oceanblue Enterprises, which does business as Oceanblue Dive, a scuba and dive shop business, last year was named a member of the board of directors of the Florida-based National Association of Underwater Instructors.

His company recently made the announcement.

Feld initially became involved with the association through his own instructor training. He earned his “NAUI Instructor Trainer” designation in 2012.

The NAUI dates to 1959. It has a strategic partnership with The Walt Disney Co. and is the official training agency for NASA”™s Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory. Famed oceanographer Jacques Cousteau was on the organization’s original board of advisers.

“Since its inception, NAUI has been the leader in dive education,” Feld said in a statement. “As we head into 2015, we plan to continue building upon NAUI”™s core values and ”˜Dive Safety Through Education”™ philosophy through instruction, creation of new cutting-edge learning and business tools, and forming strategic partnerships for the organization.”

A Feld program to link divers and dive shops has been endorsed by the association.
