Newtown businesses receive $500K
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced Jan.8 that small businesses adversely affected by the Newtown shooting would be eligible for a portion of a $500,000 grant.
“We certainly recognize in state government that many small businesses were adversely effected during the holiday retail season,” Malloy said, announcing the grant at a Danbury Chamber of Commerce meeting. “So we will be turning over money with some guidelines to the town to help small business recover.”
Under the Small Town Economic Assistance Program, the grant will be funded by an October 2012 allotment by the State Bond Commission.
