Newman’s Own launches pay what you want pizza truck
Newman’s Own, the Westport-based brand of salad dressings and snacks founded by the late actor to support his charitable ventures announced on June 20 the launch of food truck offering pizza at widely variable prices.
Offering “stone fired” pizzas, the truck will travel across the country making stops in major cities and offering pizza to all comers at whatever price they see fit to pay. All proceeds will go to the Newman’s Own Foundation which has a wide range of charitable causes, but has been the subject of a lawsuit by the actor’s daughters.
The trucks journey began yesterday in New York City, and it will now depart on its cross-country trip.
“We’re excited to hit the road this summer with our Pay What You Want Pizza truck,” said David Best, President and CEO of Newman’s Own, Inc. “We can’t wait to share our delicious pizza, celebrate the great generosity in this country, and help even more kids. Come by and enjoy a slice!”
