New leadership selected for Hearst newspapers

 

Hearst Connecticut Media Group has selected Senior Vice President of Circulation, Paul Barbetta to lead the company as group publisher and president following the recent departure of Henry B. Haitz.

The announcement was made today by Hearst President and CEO Steven R. Swartz, and Hearst Newspapers President Mark Aldam.

“Paul”™s experience developing audiences and building top performing teams will help us accelerate growth in Connecticut as we maintain our commitment to deep community-level journalism,” said Aldman.

According to Hearst, Barbetta begins his new position immediately and will report to Aldam. In his new role, Barbetta will oversee Hearst”™s network of media companies in Connecticut, including four daily newspapers ”” Connecticut Post in Bridgeport, The News-Times in Danbury, The Advocate in Stamford and Greenwich Time ”” as well as five weekly newspapers and nine websites in southwestern Connecticut.

Barbetta has served since 2012 as senior vice president of circulation for Hearst Newspapers, a role he will continue to hold.

Prior to joining Hearst, Barbetta served as senior vice president of operations and logistics for CBA Industries, where he was responsible for the packaging, production and distribution of advertising inserts to 12 million homes weekly. From 2004 to 2009, he held the role of vice president of circulation, operations and transportation for Newsday Inc. Earlier in his career, he worked for The Baltimore Sun and USA Today.
