New indoor sports arena in Trumbull
A multisports venue management team headed by Fairfield County native Peter Corbett ”“ Insports Centers Trumbull L.L.C. ”“ has acquired the Trumbull indoor facility formerly known as the Sports Zone.
No figure was given for the acquisition.
The facility is undergoing a complete renovation and will open in mid-September. It will be the only large indoor sports facility in the greater Bridgeport area, according to Insports.
The 108,000-square-foot space will feature a 100-yard new artificial turf field for
football soccer, lacrosse, baseball, softball, field hockey, rugby and more; three
regulation maple hardwood basketball courts that can also be set up as four regulation volleyball courts or used for futsal, dodge ball or badminton; and a 60-yard glass enclosed field for box lacrosse, field hockey and boarded soccer, said by Insports to be the only true Canadian box lacrosse pitch in Fairfield County. All of the fields will have new LED lighting and air circulation systems.
The facility will also feature enhanced viewing areas, scoreboards, audio and video systems and a restaurant-pub. It has been designed to accommodate a variety of nonsport programs for youth and families in addition to its programs for elite athletes and teams.
“Our customers are our number one asset and we are committed to making their experience the best it can be,” said Corbett. “To achieve that objective, we will be offering not just a high-quality sport and recreation space, but also meaningful and relevant programs and well trained, friendly staff to care for our customers.”
The facility will be open 7 a.m.”“midnight, seven days a week, 360 days a year.
