Millstone back to capacity

Millstone Power Station is operating again at regular capacity, two weeks after Dominion shut down a nuclear reactor there on concerns the waters of Long Island Sound were too warm to properly cool the plant.

The Waterford plant supplies roughly half of Connecticut”™s electricity.

Dominion restarted Millstone on the eve of the one-year anniversary of Tropical Storm Irene”™s landfall in Connecticut, which caused widespread damage and power outages.

The utility is in the process of positioning emergency crews in the Southeast region as Tropical Storm Isaac gathers strength in the Gulf of Mexico.
