Marcum Tech Top 40 released
Fifteen Fairfield County companies made the 2011 Marcum Tech Top 40 list of the 40 fastest growing technology companies in Connecticut, as ranked by the Connecticut Technology Council trade group and Marcum L.L.P., an accounting and consulting company.
Winners were selected on the basis of revenue growth over four years, and were grouped into six areas of technology ”“ software, information technology, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, Internet, and energy or environmental technologies. To receive recognition, companies must have at least $3 million in annual revenue.
The list includes growth that was obtained via acquisition. For instance, Stamford-based Frontier Communications Corp. made this year”™s list after acquiring telephone, Internet and TV accounts in rural sections of the country from Verizon Communications Inc.
New Haven County tied Fairfield County for the most entries in the state, followed by Hartford County with seven. Marcum will hold a reception for the winning companies Sept. 27 in Wallingford.

Ӣ Priceline.com Inc. of Norwalk, for Internet and new media;
Ӣ Terra Technology L.L.C. of Norwalk, for software;
Ӣ TranSwitch Corp. of Shelton, for telecommunications; and
Ӣ Triple Point Technology Inc. of Westport, for software.
