For $360 million, Hubbell Inc. is acquiring the Manchester, N.H.-based division of FCI Group that makes electric-cable connectors and accessories for utilities and industrial customers.
Itself a maker of electrical and power components for a similar customer base, Hubbell is relocating its headquarters next year from Orange to Shelton. In the second quarter, Hubbell sales dropped 15 percent from a year earlier to $584 million, and profits fell more than a third to $39 million.
Hubbell is acquiring the Burndy division of FCI, which had $225 million in revenue last year. The division operates three manufacturing plants in the Northeast, along with factories in Mexico and Brazil.
FCI retains divisions that sell connectors for use in automobiles and electronic devices. The company is based in Versailles, France and is controlled by Boston-based Bain Capital.
