Holiday activities planned at Harbor Point in Stamford
Officials behind Harbor Point in Stamford have scheduled a host of holiday festivities that begin this week.
On Thanksgiving Day, Harbor Point will be one of the sponsors for the fourth annual 5K Turkey Trot, which begins at 8 a.m. at Commons Park on Washington Boulevard. There is no admissions fee, but donations of non-perishable foods are highly encouraged. Walk-in registration is accepted on the morning of the run starting at 7:30 a.m. The last day to pre-register is Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pacific Swim Bike Run, 575 Pacific St.
A full-size ice skating rink at Harbor Point will open Friday. The ribbon-cutting ceremony takes place Dec. 2. The rink will operate from 3 to 10 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekends and holidays. Admission is $9 for adults and $7 for children. Skate rentals are $5. Harbor Point Advantage cardholders are eligible for discounts.
Also on Dec. 2, Harbor Point will host the fourth annual tree lighting ceremony, at 6 p.m. in Commons Park. The evening will include caroling by Waterside School students and gospel choir singers. Hot chocolate, cookies and goodie bags will be available for children.
