Halal Guys franchisee sets sights on Stamford

Fans of The Halal Guys can soon get the famous New York City food cart cuisine closer to home.

The company announced 10 restaurants will open in parts of Connecticut and northern New Jersey through a franchisee. The franchisee has committed to developing five units in each of the two territories. In Connecticut, the franchisee is pursuing locations in downtown Stamford and New Haven, hoping to secure them this year.

The Halal Guys last year announced the launch of a franchise program with Fransmart, a franchise development company based in Virginia and California.

Fransmart said it is focusing on sites in mass gathering areas like airports, train stations, malls and neighborhoods with late-night demand.

The Halal Guys operates two corporate brick-and-mortar restaurants in Manhattan and has more than 200 franchise units in development in territories including Houston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Chicago and California, as well as international locations for the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia.
