Gemming joins Western Connecticut Health Network as VP and medical group director
Richard Gemming has joined the Western Connecticut Health Network as the new vice president as well as executive director of the network”™s medical group, a collection of urgent and primary care facilities throughout western Connecticut.
Gemming was formerly in charge of strategy and development of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System”™s primary and specialty care physician network and previously served as the CEO of the Center for Interventional Vascular Therapies at Columbia University.
“A proven change management leader, he has successfully developed and managed nine service lines, three joint ventures and numerous other significant healthcare acquisitions,” according to the announcement by the health network.
Gemming will report directly to health network President and CEO Dr. John Murphy as well as the medical group”™s board of directors and replaces Tom Linhares, who left the medical group in 2015 to became executive director of the Southcoast Physicians Group, a part of Southcoast Health in New Bedford, Mass.
The health network includes three regional hospitals: Danbury, Milford and Norwalk hospitals as well as the Western Connecticut Medical Group and Western Connecticut Home Care service.
The medical group has 59 primary care offices throughout Fairfield, Litchfield, New Haven counties in Connecticut and Putnam County in New York.
