Gartner acquires software company

Gartner Inc., a global information technology industry research provider based in Stamford, today announced the acquisition of Capterra. Terms were not disclosed.

Capterra is a privately held technology company based in Arlington, Va. that helps organizations find the right business software to meet their needs. Some of its clients include Whole Foods Market, The Home Depot and H&R Block.

According to Gartner’s statement, the acquisition of Capterra is consistent with its growth strategy to invest in developing  products and services that help clients make the right technology-related decisions.

San Francisco-based Vista Point Advisors acted as the exclusive financial adviser to Capterra. Last year the company advised Texas company Software Advice Inc., which Gartner acquired for $135 million.
