Gartner acquires AMR

For $64 million, Stamford-based Gartner Inc. is acquiring AMR Research, which provides research on companies that successfully manage their supply chains and the vendors that help them do it.

AMR is based in Boston and has about 85 research and sales staff. The company expects $40 million in revenue this year.
Through the first three quarters of 2009, Gartner earned $57 million on $557 million in revenue providing research on information technology, down 5 percent from the same period in 2008.

“AMR Research is an excellent strategic fit for Gartner,” said Gene Hall, CEO of Gartner, in a written statement. “The firm is the market leader for research related to supply chain management, which is inextricably linked to IT and has become a central and growing issue for many organizations.”
