The health-oriented food chain Energy Kitchen has signed an agreement for three guilt-free restaurants in Fairfield County.
The Manhattan-based fast-casual chain whose health centric menu features no menu item that exceeds 500 calories, has signed a development agreement for three restaurants in the county, including Stamford and Greenwich initially, with the third to be announced. The addition of the three stores is part of the company”™s aggressive expansion plan calling for 1,000 of the calorie-conscious eateries nationwide over the next decade.
“It”™s an exciting time for us as we build momentum and take big steps towards our national expansion goal,” said Anthony Leone, founder and president of Energy Kitchen.
Other recent deals have been signed in Boston, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.
“As more consumers begin to realize that fast food doesn”™t have to be fat food, we look forward to providing them with a healthy, delicious alternative to their dining options,” Leone said.
In addition to having a low calorie count, the fast-casual restaurants boast grilled, baked or steamed as their cooking methods and don”™t sell full-calorie sodas.
“What we offer is fast food without the guilt,” Leone said.
The local development will be guided by New Canaan resident and fitness consultant Elizabeth Deluca.
“I want to help as many people as possible make good health a priority, creating a lifestyle with better eating,” Deluca said. “I couldn”™t be more excited about bringing Energy Kitchen and the healthy lifestyle it represents to Fairfield County.”
This past month White Plains native Steve Prashad introduced three locations to Westchester County, N.Y.
“It”™s an open-kitchen setup where you can see how all of the food is prepared,” Prashad said. “The nutritional values are posted in-store and on the website, so you know what you”™re eating and there are no hidden ingredients.”
