Family Centers opens health care facility in Greenwich

Family Centers, the Greenwich-based nonprofit offering education, health and human services throughout the county, has opened a new health care facility in the city-owned apartment complex Wilbur Peck Court.

Funding for Family Centers Health Care (FCHC) was provided by a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, with additional financing from the TurningPoint Foundation, the Mark Family Foundation and the Greenwich Housing Authority.

Operated by Family Centers and staffed by nurse practitioners, dentists and other medical professionals, FCHC provides primary health care and dental services to children and adults living in Greenwich Public Housing units, Section 8 housing ”” a federal program that allows private landlords to rent apartments and homes at fair market rates to qualified low income tenants ”” and surrounding neighborhoods. It includes three medical exam rooms and a full dental facility.

Family Centers expects to receive an annual grant of up to $650,000 from the federal government to help pay for the clinic”™s operations.
