Fairfield Grand List grows to $12 billion
FAIRFIELD – The town’s 2024 Grand List of $12.03 billion rose just about 0.25% compared to last year’s $11.98 billion list, according to First Selectman Bill Gerber.
Real estate led the way with a total of $10.93 billion, followed by motor vehicles with $650.8 million and personal property with $442.09 million. Elderly homes netted $141.3 million.
Real estate property values were broken down as follows: regular real estate (20,640 properties for $10.81 billion), real estate elderly homes (472 properties for $145.61 million), and real estate exempt (595 properties assessed at $1.78 billion).
Once again the top overall property owners were utility companies: United Illuminating owned personal property assessed at $91.58 million, Aquarion Water Co. had assessed real estate and personal property valued at $70.26 million, Connecticut Light & Power personal property was at $70.08 million, and Southern Connecticut Gas Co.’s personal property was $62.14 million.
As for motor vehicles, there 40,963 passenger vehicles with a gross assessment of $602.72 million, 484 commercial vehicles with a gross assessment of $7.74 million, 2,714 combination vehicles assessed at $30.75 million, 14 farm vehicles with a gross assessment of $120,670, and 3,779 all other vehicles with a gross assessment of $10.38 million.
