Fairfield County eateries reign in best restaurants survey
Fairfield County”™s dining destinations were the dominant force in the newly published Connecticut Magazine”™s 2017 Best Restaurants: Readers”™ Choice.
Newtown”™s Sal e Pepe won the Overall Excellence, Best Italian and Best Dessert categories. Other Newtown eateries cited for excellence were Toro for Best Chinese and Best Sushi, King”™s for Best Breakfast and Tazza for Best New Restaurant and Best Appetizers.
Multiple category winners included Bridgeport”™s Nom-eez for Best Vietnamese, Best Hidden Gem and Best BYOB, Redding”™s The Spinning Wheel for Best American and Best Fried Chicken, and Derby”™s Dew Drop Inn for Best Pub Grub, Best Road Food and Best Chicken Wings. Fairfield boasted three winners ”“ Mecha Noodle Bar for Best Japanese, Super Duper Weenie for Best Hot Dogs and The Tasty Yolk for Best Food Truck ”“ while Danbury had two winners with Edo II for Best Korean and Hanna”™s for Best Mediterranean.
Other local winners included New Canaan”™s Thali for Best Indian, Ridgefield”™s Hoodoo Brown BBQ for Best Barbecue, Gaetano”™s in Stratford for Best Deli, MacDaddy”™s in Monroe for Best Mac and Cheese, and The Hops Co. in Derby for Best Beer Bar.
