Fairfield County Awards and Donors
STAMFORD – The TV, internet and phone provider Spectrum announced on Jan. 9 a donation of $5,000 to Children’s Learning Centers (CLC) of Fairfield County through the company’s national community philanthropic program, Spectrum Employee Community Grants.
Of the total funds, $2,500 from Spectrum Employee Community Grants (SECG) will support the organization’s Nutrition Program, while an additional $2,500 contributed by the company’s Government Affairs Department will support the organization’s Technology Program.
“Spectrum, through the support of its Employee Community Grants Program, exemplifies the best example of service to others,” said Joel Weiss, chief development officer of CLC. “Their support for CLC’s children, their families, and our teachers, displays both kindness and courage as we work together to help our children grow into extraordinary adults.”
A check presentation ceremony commemorating the donation took place on Friday, Jan. 10, at the Children’s Learning Centers of Fairfield County, located at 64 Palmers Hill Road in Stamford.
“This is a commendable initiative between Spectrum and the Children’s Learning Centers of Fairfield County,” said state Rep. Corey Paris. “The support is a testament to the impactful work being done to strengthen our community and support our children’s growth and development.”
Charter Communications, which owns Spectrum, was represented at the check presentation as well.
“Through Spectrum Employee Community Grants, we’re proud to provide support to vital community organizations with which our local employees are already volunteering their time and talent,” said Rahman Khan, group vice president of community impact for Charter Communications. “Together, we’re building stronger communities where our customers and employees live and work across America.”
Recipients deliver critical social services, helping underserved residents meet basic needs, including food, shelter, clothing, job training and neighborhood safety. Each awardee is nominated by one of the company’s more than 101,000 U.S. employees who has volunteered with the organization for at least one year.
Dr. DeJesus named among top dentists nationwide
SHELTON – City dentist Phillip J. DeJesus has been recognized as one of America’s Best Dentists by the National Consumer Advisory Board.
This honor, given to dental professionals with exceptional credentials, experience, and dedication, follows his consecutive wins as Connecticut’s Best Dentist in recent years.
Renowned for his “calming chair-side manner and ability to help patients overcome smile insecurity,” Dr. DeJesus, DDS, MAGD, FICOI, has earned the trust of Fairfield County residents for complex dental restoration cases.
“I am deeply honored to receive the America’s Best Dentists recognition,” DeJesus said. “This award reflects not just my commitment to excellence in dentistry but the dedication of my entire team in providing exceptional patient care. Throughout my 30 years of practice, I’ve always believed that staying at the forefront of dental technology and continuing education is crucial for delivering the best possible outcomes.”
He is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD) – a designation achieved by fewer than 2% of dentists nationwide. This distinction requires dentists to complete more than 1,100 hours of continuing education, including 400 hours in hands-on courses.
Additionally, he is a Hybridge-certified doctor, specializing in full-mouth restoration with advanced dental implants, further cementing his reputation as an expert in comprehensive smile transformations.
“We don’t just treat teeth—we build lasting relationships with our patients, taking time to understand their unique needs and concerns,” DeJesus added. “This recognition validates our patient-first approach and inspires us to continue raising the bar in dental care in Fairfield County.”
The America’s Best Dentists selection process honors professionals who meet strict criteria, including:
- Full-time dedication to patient care
- Extensive continuing education, exceeding standard state requirements
- Exceptional online reviews and peer recommendations
