Doctors Express to open second Danbury urgent care center
Doctors Express Urgent Care will open its second Danbury facility this winter. The locally owned urgent care center at 100 Mill Plains Road will create about 20 jobs in the city.
Tom Kelly, co-owner of Doctors Express, said the goal is to bring a modern medical facility to the highly commercial Mill Plain Road corridor that lacks health care alternatives.
The walk-in facility will have an on-site laboratory, pharmacy and X-ray equipment. Its staff will include physicians, physician assistants, advanced practice registered nurses, X-ray technicians and medical assistants.
“We are not primary care,” Kelly said in a statement, “but we have a broad referral network and a strong relationships with the best primary care physicians, pediatricians and specialists in the area.”
In addition to urgent care, the center will provide physicals and vaccinations as well as job-related drug screening and hearing tests.
Doctors Express’ Danbury urgent care centers are open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends. The other Danbury location is at 2 Main St. in Danbury.
