Danbury health center receives $112K grant
The Community Health Center of Greater Danbury has received a $112,000 federal grant to help support the training of primary care physicians as part of a program tied to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA).Â
The Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education Payment Program, created under the ACA, promotes the training of residents specifically in community-based settings. The Danbury group was one of 32 teaching health centers across the U.S. that will share $12 million in grants announced July 19 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Collectively, the funds will help care providers and teaching centers train more than 300 residents during the 2013-2014 academic year in areas that include family and internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, and general and pediatric dentistry.Â
The Danbury center was the only Connecticut provider or institution to receive a grant as part of the grant disbursements announced last week.
