Connecticut Bond Commission OKs $15M for nonprofits
The Connecticut Bond Commission recently approved nearly $15 million in funding for 32 nonprofits, including three that serve Fairfield County communities.
The commission awarded $150,000 to help create new facilities in Norwalk for the Music Theatre of Connecticut, currently based in Westport; $150,000 to renovate the Trumbull Senior Center’s kitchen facilities; and $525,000 to streamline the Connecticut Association for Community Action network’s data warehouse, which is used in collaboration with the Community Action Committee of Danbury Inc. as well as Access Agency in Williamantic, New Opportunities Inc. in Waterbury and Thames Valley Council for Community Action in Norwich.
“These bond funds will help nonprofit organizations streamline programs and services through local, regional and statewide collaborations, to carry out their strategic planning initiatives and to support individuals and families with significant challenges,” said Terry Edelstein, nonprofit liaison to Gov. Dannel Malloy, in a statement.
The Connecticut Association for Community Action is one of six nonprofits receiving funding through the state Office of Policy and Management’s Nonprofit Collaboration Incentive Grant Program. The grants help offset one-time infrastructure costs.
Other funding is being distributed through the Department of Social Services, the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the Department of Economic and Community Development, the Department of Public Health and other state agencies.
