Conn. omitted from hospital list

Connecticut hospitals were omitted from a list of those that are getting good patient results using evidence-based care.

The list was published by the Joint Commission, an Illinois-based organization that accredits some 3,300 hospitals nationally.

More than 50 Northeast hospitals made the Joint Commission’s list among 620 nationwide, though several considered among the best in the region were omitted, including Massachusetts General Hospital, New York-Presbyterian University Hospital and Yale-New Haven Hospital.

The Joint Commission said more than 580 hospitals just missed making the list by missing a cutoff on one measure.

The Joint Commission cited hospitals among the top 18 percent of accredited facilities that reported performance data across several ailments, including heart attacks, stroke, surgical care, and inpatient psychological treatment.
