
Cingari Family Markets of Stamford has been recognized as an exceptional independent grocer by The Shelby Report. This award highlights independent grocers that excel in investing in their stores, support neighborhood charities, and prioritize employee training and development.
The Shelby Report, which covers grocery industry, presented the award to Cingari Family Markets at the National Grocers Association Show in Las Vegas on Feb. 24.

Cingari Family Markets, which has been in business for more than 90 years, owns 10 ShopRite supermarkets and two specialty markets in southwestern Connecticut. Third and fourth generations of the family-run business are renovating all 12 of their stores with new and expanded offerings, contemporary décor, and eco-friendly display cases and lighting.
Shelby Report also recognized the grocer for the job it does investing in its associates, who receive comprehensive training and certifications, including CPR classes. In 2024, the company was recognized as a Top Workplace in Connecticut by Hearst CT Media.
