Bridgewater resident donates $3M for new cardio suite at Danbury Hospital

Bridgewater resident Yoriko McClure has made a $3 million donation to Danbury Hospital to transform its cardiac operating room into a multifunctional cardiovascular surgical suite. McClure made the decision after undergoing coronary bypass surgery at the hospital in 2015.

“We are extremely grateful to Mrs. McClure for her exceptional generosity,” said Western Connecticut Health Network President and CEO John M. Murphy. “Her gift will have a tremendous impact on our ability to provide western Connecticut and neighboring New York with the most advanced cardiovascular care for generations to come.”

Located in the Hospital”™s Peter and Carmen Lucia Buck Pavilion, the new clinical space is scheduled for completion in 2018 and will be named The Yoriko McClure Surgical Suite at Danbury Hospital.

The suite will combine the functionality of a traditional operating room with the advanced imaging capabilities of a catheterization laboratory, creating a hybrid operating room. The facility will enable surgeons to perform minimally invasive cardiac and endovascular procedures with extreme precision in a single surgical encounter. The facility will also accommodate leading-edge equipment, technology and surgical staff needed to perform the most advanced cardiovascular procedures.
