Bridgeport arena expects sell-outs for women’s NCAA games

Sold-out crowds are expected at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport when the city hosts the regional semi-finals and regional finals of the women’s NCAA basketball tournament this Saturday and Monday.

The matchups feature the top-seeded University of Connecticut squad, which will play fourth-seeded Maryland on Saturday afternoon. That game will follow a noon contest between second-seeded Kentucky and sixth-seeded Delaware, with the winners of each facing off on Monday evening.

Harbor Yard Sports & Entertainment, which operates the 10,000-seat arena, said Saturday’s games are sold out and that limited tickets remain for Monday’s game.

“We are thrilled to be the host venue,” said Harbor Yard Sports President Howard Saffan, in a prepared statement. Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch said the city is “proud to host players, coaches and fans from these four excellent programs.”
