Bob’s, Eastern Mountain Sports stores closing in Danbury, Fairfield

Eastern Outfitters LLC, the parent of Bob”™s Stores and Eastern Mountain Sports, has won court approval for an expedited hearing on its plan to close 48 of its 86 stores. Set for shuttering are the Bob”™s locations at 114 Federal Road in Danbury and at the Fairfield Centre Shopping Center at 889 Post Road in Fairfield, and the Eastern Mountain Sports store in the Turnpike Shopping Center at 1939 Blackrock Turnpike in Fairfield.

All told, the company plans to close 21 Bob”™s Stores locations and 27 Eastern Mountain Sports outlets. When it filed for bankruptcy in February, it had 35 Bob”™s outlets and 51 Eastern Mountain locations.

At the same time that Eastern Outfitters LLC filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 6, U.K.-based sporting goods chin Sports Direct agreed to purchase its outstanding second lien debt from Versa Capital Management, which had acquired the company out of bankruptcy proceedings in 2016.
