BLT affiliate buys Norwalk property

Building & Land Technology announced Sept. 30 an affiliate ”“ unnamed except for the designation “BLT” ”“ has purchased the former 250,000-square-foot U.S. Surgical Headquarters located at 150 Glover Ave. in Norwalk.

Stamford-based BLT said it intends to “revitalize the property by investing significant capital to replace base building systems and providing for a new sense of entry.”

The property is off the Route 7 expressway and the Merritt Parkway and is within walking distance of the Merritt 7 train station.

Carl R. Kuehner, CEO of BLT, said in a prepared statement, “By adding to our existing Glover Avenue holdings, the acquisition of this property will allow for a comprehensive redevelopment of the properties at the north end of Glover Avenue.”

BLT, founded in 1982, is privately held. Its office holdings include the corporate headquarters for Gen Re, GE Commercial Finance, Diageo, GE Real Estate, Xerox, GE Energy, Design Within Reach, Kayak Software, AON/Hewitt, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, and Structured Portfolio Management. It is the developer of residential, commercial and mixed-use projects, including Harbor Point in Stamford.
