Biden to visit Greenwich on Monday

President Joe Biden is scheduled to visit Greenwich on Monday, June 3, Senator Richard Blumenthal told CTInsider.

The already sold-out fundraising event at a donor’s private home will take place at 6:30pm. Many top elected officials from Connecticut are expected to attend, including Blumenthal himself and fellow Greenwich resident Governor Ned Lamont.

While Connecticut, which only has seven electoral votes and is widely viewed as dependably Democratic, is not a key battleground in the 2024 election Fairfield County is home to many of the wealthiest people in the country. Donors in Connecticut can provide access to vital funds that the Biden campaign can use to further their cause in swing states.

Biden is facing an unexpectedly close election against former President Donald Trump even as the latter is facing a court battle a few dozen miles away in a Manhattan courtroom.

While Connecticut’s electoral votes are largely expected to swing his way, the college campuses in the region which are typically bases of Democratic strength are not likely to warrant a visit. Large demonstrations have occurred at area universities and colleges condemning Biden’s support for the Israeli campaign against Hamas which has killed tens of thousands of civilians.
