AT&T opens store in Greenwich

AT&T is opening a retail store on Greenwich Avenue in Greenwich to address what it says is a growing demand for advanced wireless and wired data products and services.

“The company”™s commitment to our town and region, even in this challenging economic climate, reflects that we remain a magnet for business opportunity and retail development,” said Mary Ann Morrison, president and CEO of the Greenwich Chamber of Commerce. “We are pleased that AT&T is reinvesting in our community by relocating and expanding its current Greenwich store.” The store had been on West Putnam Avenue.

At the start of the year, AT&T announced plans to invest $17 billion to $18 billion to growing its telecommunications businesses.

Steve Krom, vice president and general manager of AT&T in New England, said the new store will be interactive and more user friendly, similar to that at the Apple Genius Bars. Coincidently, a former movie theater nearby is being renovated for an Apple store.

The Greenwich location makes 43 AT&T locations in the state. AT&T’s wireless products and services are also available at many national retailers including Radio Shack, Best Buy, Walmart, Kmart and Costco.

The Greenwich store will be managed by a nine-year wireless industry veteran, Michelle Giannotti, along with a staff of five employees.
