Aspetuck microbrewery to open in Bridgeport

Bridgeport will soon raise a pint to a new brewery, Aspetuck Brew Lab.

Founded by Peter and Tara Cowles, the microbrewery will open at 3389 Fairfield Ave., in the Black Rock neighborhood.

Renovations on the property will last several months, according to a city-issued press release. The effort is expected to create six new jobs.

“We”™re excited to move into our new home in Bridgeport,” Peter Cowles said in the press release. “The city is getting better every day, and there is a positive energy in the culture that”™s developing here. Bridgeport also is a perfect location for our business as we continue to grow. Its position along the I-95 corridor will let us quickly reach surrounding cities like New York and Boston.”

Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch said, “The Park City is home many award-winning small business, and we are proud of their contribution to our community and our economy.”

Among other awards, Peter Cowles”™ black IPA was selected best-in-show in 2011 by the Heartland Brewing Co., which resulted in a commercial brewing collaboration between Cowles and two of Heartland”™s New York City restaurants.
