Anchors aweigh for 2014 Norwalk Boat Show

The Progressive Insurance Norwalk Boat Show, billed as “the Northeast”™s premier in-water boating event,” runs Sept. 18-21 at Norwalk Cove Marina in Norwalk.

The hours each day are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Adult admission is $15; children under 15 are free.

Hundreds of boats are expected to be on display, from kayaks costing several hundred dollars to a million-dollar yacht.

Activities include the opportunity for visitors to paddle or to try their hands at power boating. There is an activity area for children called Nature Nick”™s Animal Adventure. “See, board and compare hundreds of new boats ranging from 13-foot runabouts to luxury yachts 75-plus feet,” promotional material said. There are also related products and educational opportunities.

The Progressive Insurance Norwalk Boat Show is produced by the National Marine Manufacturers Association, which identifies itself as the world”™s largest producer of boat shows and the leading association representing the recreational boating industry. Association companies produce 80 percent of the boats, engines, trailers, accessories and gear used by boaters and anglers throughout the U.S. and Canada, it said in a statement.
