AM station sold to former insurance executive
WGCH Radio, the self declared “voice of Fairfield and Westchester counties” recently was sold to Forte Family Broadcasting Inc. in Greenwich.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2014, the AM talk radio station broadcasts local news and sports coverage, as well as syndicated talk shows.
In a statement, Rocco L. Forte, the purchaser, said he was excited to buy a heritage radio station and plans to use his previous marketing and advertising experience to expand the station’s client base. Forte, who grew up in Hartford and attended the University of Connecticut, said his love for radio began in college, when he worked both on-air and in sales.
Forte was the previous CFO of Abate Insurance Agency and AIA Risk Services in New Haven.
“(I) look forward to making the 50th anniversary year of WGCH a successful and even more profitable one,” Forte said.
